	About Our Lighting Kits Often we hear - " nice kit but too expensive". Ulrich Models actually has a very low margin on light kits. The cost comes from components and labor. We hire a professional electronics assembler located in the USA to build these kits. The assembly charges are very reasonable but they do make up a significant part of the cost. We often use a TCS 6 pin connector in the kits so the shell can be easily removed and there are not a dozen wires soldered to the decoder permanently connected to the shell. The connector alone adds about $12.00 to the cost of the kit. We do not add anything for the engineering and document preparation time. We concentrate on Athearn models to bring modern lighting to what is otherwise a fine model. Every kit we build also eliminates the wiring rats nest between Athearn frames and shells. We won't get rich on these kits but we think Athearn models cry out for modern LED lighting; that is why we invented the kits and the Resistor Board.
