Athearn Gas Turbine Diesel Unit Light Upgrade Kit - NOT FOR THE VERANDA This kit upgrades the lighting on the Athearn Gas Turbine to LEDs and gives prototypical lighting. It also separates the Mars light from the headlight and gives separate function control. The kit used miniature LEDs and 1.5 mm fiber optic tubes that slide into the 1.4 mm bulb mounting holes. The kit plugs into the 8 pin DCC connector which is in parallel with the 9 pin connector. No soldering is required if the Mars light is on Function 3. If the Mars light is connected to Function 5, one wire has to be moved. See install document for more information (coming soon). Union Pacific ran most of the time without the Mars light on but did use the Mars light occasionally. The Athearn wiring that ties the Mars to the headlights is not prototypical.
