It contains both a diesel mode and turbine mode. Pressing F7 while the engine is stationary initiates the gas turbine start-up sequence. The start sequence continues through numerous steps until full power is reached. Releasing F7, while stationary, begins the turbine shutdown sequence and changeover to diesel power. The locomotive can be run as a diesel also. We do not have a vested interest in any one speaker and compare them all to deliver the best sound to our customers. We use speaker enclosures when ever possible. For dual speaker installations, we make sure the speakers are phased matched and are complementary to each other. Our Athearn Gas Turbine sound upgrade received rave reviews from our customers. As soon as we receive our first Veranda, we will create the sound upgrade kit to match it. The Veranda has narrower body than the earlier turbine due to the external walkway. This may require different speakers than the current Athearn model. Check out our speaker line, it is one of the most comprehensive in the business. Lighting Upgrade Athearn Locomotives are notorious for weak lighting and the Gas Turbine was released with extremely poor lighting. We developed an LED replacement lighting kit for that model using miniature LEDs and fiber optics. We also made the Mars light an independent strobe light. In anticipation of the Veranda needing a lighting upgrade, we are advance advertising a lighting upgrade kit for the Veranda. This is an optional item. If it is advance purchased along with the Veranda model and is not required or desired at delivery, we will delete the charge. The Gas Turbine Upgrade kit also recieved rave reviews from customers.
